Kathleen Miller-Jobson, MSN, CNM, RN, RM
It was while working in a war zone in El Salvador in 1985 that I knew I was meant to be a midwife. I returned home to the U.S. ans started the path to nurse midwifery.
I earned my Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 1992, and my Masters of Science in Nursing/Certified Nurse Midwifery in 1995. My midwifery and maternity nursing experience includes home births and establishing a birth center. I have also worked in a variety of hospitals including small rural, mid-size urban and tertiary care inner city in the U.S.
in 2002, my husband and I moved with our four children to Alberta so we could be closer to my Alberta-born husband's family. I spent the next several years working at the High River Hospital as a maternity nurse and was registered as a midwife in Alberta in 2009.
I am so pleased to be practicing in the beautiful foothills, which has truly become home to my family. Perhaps when i retire, I will return to Central America to provide safe maternity care for peasant women.
